The Alpha Systems AOA utilizes a time prove method to detect and sense the AOA by means of a custom designed probe that measures changes of pressure, when mounted in “clean air flow” (undisturbed air), calibrated to the aircraft, giving repeatable, accurate and instantaneous pressures over the aircrafts linear AOA range. These pressures are directly related to the AOA range of available lift, from Cruise up to Stall.
The AOA probe mounting plate comes from the factory at 8” by 8” square, which allows the aircraft mechanic to locate an existing inspection cover that meets the clearance, setback, and undisturbed air criteria. Once the location is identified, the mechanic utilizes the inspection cover as a pattern, tracing the shape and mounting hole pattern of the cover to the AOA probe mounting plate. Once the AOA probe mounting plate has been trimmed and fit, the AOA probe / mounting plate replaces the inspection cover
and gives a solid mount that holds the probe rigidly to the aircraft.

Changes in differential air pressure measured by the AOA Probe is transferred directly to the gauge in the cockpit. This version uses no electronics and is instant, accurate and highly visible.
